We like to think we have a unique approach to wine. It's built around the idea of demystifying the often over-complicated approach that traditional wine brands take.

We're developing premium quality products, delivered at an attainable price point and presented in a way that makes them accessible to a new generation of wine drinkers.

Cake lives within the context of creative culture (music, art, design, film, photography, ideas), a culture that is integral to drinking and enjoying good wine.

All our wines are produced in the Adelaide Hills.

We like to think we take a different approach to the sometimes over-complicated world of wine. We want to demystify things a little and make wine more accessible for a new generation of wine drinkers…you, us.

With that in mind, we’ve crafted our wines to be un-complicated, light to medium bodied with just enough personality to keep you guessing. Try them, tell us what you think. All our wines are from South Australia, namely the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Coonawarra regions.

We want to support and celebrate things that make the world a more interesting place, things that inspire new ideas…things that inspire us (and hopefully you). 25cents from every bottle of Cake goes back to FBi Radio in Sydney and 4ZZZ in Brisbane, we commission talented artists to produce our bottle art, we’ve launched a film series, a mix tape series, pop-up bars and even Australia’s second most prestigious art prize, the Archi-bottle.

Watch a few of our video’s here…

Bottle: Chardonnay

Forget the shoulder pad Chardonnays of the 80's, and tell your mother to lighten up. This South Australian Chardonnay is fresh and bright with a nose of grapefruit, pears and peach. On a palate of apples and citrus, this is a laid-back white...the way they should be.

Bottle: Rose

If it's summer you're dreaming of, pour yourself a glass and close your eyes... you're on an island! With fresh fruit and raspberry on the nose and soft tannins of rich sorbet sweetness, this is a classic South Australian Rose crafted for good times, any time.

Bottle: Shiraz

Shiraz. It's the no nonsense, straight talking, boss of red wine. With a ripe plum and cherry nose, the palate is smooth with fruit sweetness and dark plum. A full-flavoured, full-bodied, fruit-driven wine that over-delivers.

Bottle: 2010 Pinot Noir (Adelaide Hills)

The palate is delicate and clean boasting juicy cherry and blueberry fruits, with plum flavours.

Bottle: 2011 Pinot Grigio (Adelaide Hills)

Light to medium palate density balanced with clarity and tingly natural acidity leaving a refreshingly crisp finish.

Bottle: 2009 Cabernet Merlot (Adelaide Hills)

A medium bodied well-rounded wine which has both elegance and richness with fine long tannins. This supple wine hits the mouth with blackcurrant, black plums and cassis complimented by a luscious texture, and exceptional length of palate.

Bottle: 2011 Sauvignon Blanc (Adelaide Hills)

Light to medium palate density balanced with clarity and tingly natural acidity leaving a refreshingly crisp finish. Citrus and bright tropical notes and an allure of passionfruit.

The Archi-Bottle Prize is a search for Australia’s most talented artists to produce bottle art for our wines. This year we had over 300 entries with 30 finalists selected and exhibited at our pop-up wine bar held at 199 Cleveland St Surry Hills. Dan “Ears” O’toole took out the prize with Jae Copp and Manuela Strano runners up. These 3 pieces will go into full production and will be featured on our Shiraz, Rose and Chardonnay. Each of the 30 finalists bottles will be for sale for a limited time only through the Cake Wines Facebook store.

Cake Wines was the major wine partner at Tropfest 2013, Australia’s most prestigious short film festival. As part of this, we opened a Cake Wines / Tropfest pop-up bar set in a stunning sandstone “bunker-like” building in The Rocks from Feb 7th to March the 2nd. We curated a month of cultural activity…from music, talks, wine tastings, art exhibitions, food nights and film nights. On the right you’ll see the calendar of events that ran across the month. Head over to https://vimeo.com/cakewines to see a video on this and other cultural projects we’ve been involved in.

Artist: EARS (Daniel O'toole)
Bottle: Shiraz
Artwork: Marine Chief

'Marine Chief' by 'EARS' (Daniel O'toole.) This piece was the winner of the 2012 Cake Archi-Bottle Prize. EARS works can be seen at earstotheground.net, hanging on the walls of Soldiers Rd Gallery (soldiersrd.com) or on the streets of Sydney and Melbourne.

EARS, 2012

Artist: Jae Copp
Bottle: Chardonnay
Artwork: Susa

'Susa' by Jae Copp, was a runner up in the annual Cake Archi-Bottle Prize. Jae had this to say about the piece... "This was a loose adaptation of the Winged Sphinx of Susa, an ancient city of the Elamite, Persian and Parthian empires of Iran".

Jae Copp, 2012

Artist: Manuela Strano
Bottle: Rose
Artwork: Facet

'Facet' by Manuela Strano, a runner up in the annual Cake Archi-Bottle Prize. Manuela had this to say about her piece..."I'm fascinated by the intricate facets found in rock formations and the idea of contrasting this with bold geometric lines and patterns".

Manuela Strano, 2012

Artist: Kevin Tran
Bottle: Pinot Noir
Artwork: Exploration of Space

"My art-making practice is heavily based on intuition and feeling. I never have a pre-planned aim or destination. I rely on gut instinct and what visually feels right to lead me to the final composition, Exploration Of Space was no different and I'm proud of the result."

Kevin Tran, 2012

Artist: Hollie Martin
Bottle: Pinot Grigio
Artwork: Quiet

"The idea with my work for this particular project was to create something that was personal and that resonated with me and stuck to the same visual structure I use but also to create a piece that would stand out. This piece presented me with a few false starts but I'm really proud of the outcome and am excited to do more projects like this."

Hollie Martin, 2012

Artist: Mark Whalen (Kill Pixie)
Bottle: Cabernet Merlot
Artwork: Unusual Findings

"For me the work is a massive study of the human race; it's like a giant catalog of human activity exploring all aspects of life. I'm really inspired by concepts of the future, science, architecture and mathematics."

Mark Whalen, 2011

Artist: Beci Orpin
Bottle: Sauvignon Blanc
Artwork: Neon Nebula

"Lately I have been obsessed with marble paper so I created a pattern using this as my influence, and used it alongside pastel colours, gentle fades and water colours.

Once combined they looked surprisingly cosmic so I continued this theme and added geometric shapes to give it a more dimension and floaty feel."

Beci Oprin, 2011

It's an incredible time for music lovers and the Cake mix series is our attempt at capturing, filtering and sharing inspiring sounds mixed by DJ's and musicians that are part of the whirlwind that is the current musical landscape. Pour yourself a glass, press play and enjoy the music. If you like what you hear, share it with a friend, buy some music or grab the tune on wax.

This first mix was recorded live at the launch of our Pinot series we hosted in our office in Surry Hills, Sydney Australia. The selection is mostly boogie, house, disco... it's up beat and clap your hands, it's good friends and good wine, it's music that we love and will make you feel good.
